Insulation you can prove

Industrial insulation, installed and documented UK-wide.

Insulation that does its job, and the evidence to prove it did

Most insulation looks finished the day it goes on. Whether it performs is a different question, and it’s the one that costs you later, in lost heat, in a failed audit, or in corrosion you can’t see under intact cladding.

We work across process plant, pipework, vessels, energy infrastructure and cold chain sites, hot and cold, from the first survey through to a fully clad system signed off against your specification. Every job is documented and verified against the controlling spec, or the relevant British Standard where there isn’t one, so what you own at the end isn’t just the insulation. It’s a full record of what went on, where, by whom, and to what standard.

The people behind Fenix have spent their careers on the hard end of this trade. Gas compressor stations across the National Gas Transmission network, where a multi-layer acoustic system went on at zero tolerance through the worst months of the year with lost time held under 5%, and where the team earned Principal Contractor status on national gas infrastructure. Energy-from-waste plants, including a live upgrade in Kent that paid for itself inside nine months while the plant kept running and set a higher standard for what followed. This is the track record Fenix is built on, and the standard every job is held to.

The evidence is the product. The installation is just the bit in the middle.

Anyone can lag a pipe and talk fluently about CUI and thermal efficiency. Far fewer can prove, day by day and document-led, that what they said they installed is on the asset, to the right tolerances, fitted by a competent person who was there that day.

That gap is what we close. Every install runs through our Assurance Trail, a process you can’t skip, where the materials and their Declarations of Performance are locked off before anyone reaches site, and the daily site record ties back to the people, the hours and the standard. Every removable jacket is tagged to a record holding its material, size and location, so years later someone can scan it, quote “location 27”, and we remake it from file.

We inspect every job to an ICorr-backed standard whether you ask us to or not, because the standard is ours to hold, not yours to lower. And we price to a real one. The part most contractors won’t tell you is that the gold-standard build rarely costs much more than the cut-corner version. The difference sits in the care and the turning up, not the materials. So we tell you what’s right, and we build that.

Common questions

What is corrosion under insulation, and why does it matter?

It is the damage that hides under intact-looking cladding. Water gets in, sits against warm steel, and corrodes the pipe from the outside while everything looks fine from the walkway. It does most of its harm roughly between 50 and 175 degrees, hot enough to stay wet and not hot enough to dry out. By the time it shows, you often have a leak. We assess the risk, design the system that keeps water out, and inspect the result to an ICorr-backed standard.

How quickly does good insulation pay for itself?

It depends on the asset, the temperatures and your energy price, so we never quote a payback before we survey. What we can say is that this is usually one of the fastest returns on a plant. On a recent energy-from-waste upgrade the insulation paid for itself inside nine months while the plant kept running. We build the payback case from your own energy data, not a guess.

Do you work across the UK?

Yes, nationwide. Our home territory is the South East, Essex, London and the wider South, and we travel to plant and process sites across the country. Industrial insulation is project-driven, so the work goes where the asset is.

Is industrial foam injection the same as residential spray foam?

No, and the difference matters. Residential spray foam is the loft product that makes the news for mortgage trouble. Industrial foam injection is a controlled process for filling voids and awkward shapes in existing insulation systems on plant and pipework. Different material, different method, different world.

Can you prove what was installed?

That is the part we built the business around. Every job runs through our Assurance Trail, where the materials and their Declarations of Performance are locked off before anyone reaches site, and the daily site record ties back to the people, the hours and the standard. You end up owning a full record of what went on, where, by whom and to what standard. A purchase order is not a Declaration of Performance, and we hand you the real thing.

Do you make removable insulation jackets?

Yes, in our own metal shop. They suit valves, flanges and instruments that need regular access. Every jacket is tagged to a record holding its size, material and location, so years later someone can scan it, quote the location, and we remake it from file.
